“An Inclusive
Church—
That Serves Christ by Serving Others”
Our Mission Statement:
We are more accepting than judging, more
tolerant than judgmental, more inclusive than exclusive, welcoming all who
want to know and learn about God and the Church.
As
Presbyterian and Reformed Christians, we worship God in Jesus Christ, as
witnessed to by the words of Scripture. We stand by and accept the beliefs
and form of government of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We appreciate our
diversity of beliefs, knowing that many of our members come from
non-Presbyterian backgrounds. We accept the varied opinions, beliefs and
spiritual development of our people, and accept and expect tolerance of
individual views.
We seek to live a life together that finds its meaning in Mission beyond ourselves. Though we may gather for fellowship, study or worship, our true calling is that of gracious service to others. As individuals and as a community, we seek to be empowered by the Spirit, and to follow the pattern of Christ in service to others.
As when first called together in 1879, our church family's foundation is built
in faith upon the love of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Our congregation is strengthened through God's love, grace and forgiveness.
We trust in God to give us the faith, understanding, and creativity to serve Him.
All neighbors are invited and welcomed into fellowship. We encourage faithful
attendance to worship and we are committed to Christian education for all ages.
By ministering to our youth, and through meeting the spiritual needs of our senior
citizens, we strengthen all ages in God's love. We serve God's people through mission
locally and globally and meet the pastoral needs of our congregation. Through these
beliefs, we proclaim God's grace by serving Him with our resources of time and talent.
We stand by and accept the beliefs and form of government of the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.) and understand ourselves to be part of a connectional church
within the reformed tradition.
